The interim government took charge during a turbulent, transitional period when Bangladesh was emerging from autocratic rule and moving towards democracy. During that critical moment, our support for this government was firm and unwavering, just as it remains today.
However, to maintain the same level of trust and confidence in them now, the government must prove that they can effectively meet the aspirations and expectations of the people. This requires competence, responsibility, and a clear prioritization of tasks.
Their responsibility should be to develop a well-defined roadmap, where duties are outlined and executed within a reasonable timeframe. The main objective of the interim government should be to meet the needs of the people and uphold democratic values.
Although they are not capable of carrying out every necessary reform, they must avoid taking on tasks that exceed their capacity. Without being elected through a popular vote, their key role should be organizing a fair and credible election that fully reflects the people’s mandate.
