Salman F Rahman, former advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on private industry affairs, has been placed on a 7-day remand by the court in connection with two separate cases. On Wednesday (October 2), after the completion of his fourth remand, Rahman was presented before the court. The Detective Police requested further remand in two cases filed with Dohar and Nawabganj police stations, involving charges of explosives and murder. Following the hearing, the court granted a 4-day remand for the Nawabganj explosives case and a 3-day remand for the Dohar murder case.
With today’s remand, this marks the fifth time the former advisor has been taken into remand.
Lawyers assisting the prosecution stated that as a member of parliament for Dohar-Nawabganj, Salman F Rahman became involved in various illegal activities and financial scandals in the area.
Earlier, on August 13, Salman F Rahman was arrested from the Sadarghat area while attempting to flee via waterways. Acting on secret information, the police apprehended him from the Sadarghat river terminal and later showed him arrested in a case filed with New Market police station.
