Mahmudur Rahman, editor of Amar Desh newspaper, has called on the interim government to declare Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) a “terrorist organization” and ban it within the next seven days. He made this demand during a press briefing at the National Press Club on Sunday.

In addition to this, Mahmudur Rahman presented a seven-point proposal to the current government. His key demands are as follows:

  1. A committee must be formed, led by the health advisor, finance advisor, industrial and public works advisor, and the political secretary to the chief advisor, to ensure treatment and rehabilitation for those injured in the student and public protests.
  2. Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) should be declared a “terrorist organization” and banned within a week.
  3. The Jamuna Bridge should be renamed after ‘Shaheed Abu Sayeed’ so that people remember him for centuries as they cross the bridge.
  4. All clauses and sub-clauses of agreements made with India since 2009 must be made public so the people can know the full details.
  5. A committee must be formed to review these agreements, ensuring that no accomplices of India or fascism are part of the process.
  6. Bangabandhu Avenue should be renamed after ‘Shaheed Abrar’ as he was the first martyr of the anti-fascism movement.
  7. A judicial investigation committee, led by a judge from the appellate division, should be formed to investigate the jail killings of Brigadier General Abdur Rahim and BNP leader Nasir Uddin Pintu.

Mahmudur Rahman urged the government to consider these demands seriously.
