Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah, the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), has resigned. He submitted his resignation today, Tuesday, along with two commissioners, Ahsia Khatun and Zahurul Haque.
A senior official of the ACC confirmed this information to the media on Tuesday (October 29).
On March 3, 2021, the Cabinet Secretary, Khandakar Anwarul Islam, signed the appointment gazette for Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah at the directive of the President. He succeeded Iqbal Mahmud and previously served as the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Moinuddin Abdullah, along with commissioners Ahsia Khatun and Zahurul Haque, left the ACC headquarters at 2:10 PM today. Moinuddin Abdullah himself confirmed the resignation.
When asked about the resignation, Moinuddin Abdullah stated, “I will speak about this shortly. If you have questions, please talk to the Secretary.”
A meeting was scheduled for 3 PM today between the ACC chairman, commissioners, and officials with the Reform Commission.
Sources from the ACC have indicated that the chairman and commissioners bid farewell to everyone before resigning.
According to ACC law, if a commission intends to resign, it must submit a resignation letter to the President at least one month in advance. The same rule applies for their dismissal. However, it is not yet known whether Moinuddin Abdullah’s commission submitted their resignation letter to the President.
