The interim government has expressed its intention to operate without Saima Wazed Putul, the Regional Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) and daughter of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The government has also requested the WHO to take action against her.

At a press conference held on Wednesday evening at the Foreign Service Academy, Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Apurba Jahangir, disclosed this information.

“Saima Wazed Putul, the Regional Director of the WHO, has become dysfunctional for us,” said Jahangir. “She is facing criminal and financial charges. The Government of Bangladesh has sent a letter to the WHO, requesting direct communication with the organization, bypassing the regional director.”

Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, added that the government has urged the WHO to take appropriate action against Saima Wazed and asked to be informed of the measures taken by the organization.
