Dhaka, Thursday: BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi warned that any organization formed using BNP’s name will have no affiliation with the party. He further stated that if any BNP leaders or activists participate in such unauthorized groups, both organizational and legal actions will be taken against them.
Rizvi made these remarks at a press conference held this afternoon at the BNP central office in Naya Paltan. He clarified that apart from the party’s recognized affiliate organizations, other authorized bodies include the Teachers’ Association, Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB), Engineers and Agriculturists Association (AAB), Bangladesh Combined Professionals Council, and Medical Technologists Association.
He emphasized, “If any group uses the names of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, or Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, or operates under the banner of ‘nationalist,’ action will be taken against them.”
Addressing the ongoing anti-government movement, Rizvi said, “Through a historic movement, students and the public have shaken the fascist Sheikh Hasina regime. However, the government has failed to break the price syndicates.” He criticized the government for not exploring alternative import sources to curb the price hikes.
“The government’s inaction in breaking these syndicates will make it impossible for low-income people to survive,” Rizvi warned. He accused the government of failing to take effective measures to address the crisis.
BNP leaders present at the press conference included Chairperson’s Advisor Abdus Salam, Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Secretary for Volunteer Affairs Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, and Agriculturist Shamimur Rahman Shamim.
