In a press conference following the Advisory Council meeting at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital, Deputy Secretary to the Chief Advisor, Apurba Jahangir, stated that the government’s position aligns with Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul’s comments regarding the President’s statements about the Prime Minister’s resignation. He mentioned that no decision has yet been made regarding the removal of the President.

Recently, in a cover report titled “The Story Behind” published by Manabzamin, Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury revealed that the President had communicated that he heard about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s resignation but had not received any documented proof.

In response to reporters’ questions at the Secretariat on Monday, Legal Advisor Asif Nazrul remarked that in his address to the nation on August 5, the President stated that Sheikh Hasina had resigned and that he had accepted this resignation. Now, two and a half months later, he claims to have no resignation letter from Sheikh Hasina. Nazrul criticized this as contradictory, stating, “Such remarks indicate that the President has lied, which constitutes a breach of oath.” He noted that the possibility of the President remaining in office while maintaining such statements could be discussed in the Advisory Council meeting.

This developing situation raises questions about the credibility of the President’s statements and their implications for the ongoing political landscape.
