Mahmudur Rahman, editor of Amar Desh newspaper, stated that the fascist Hasina government dismantled every machine of the newspaper’s printing press 11 years ago. “I don’t know how I will restart this press or where the funding will come from, but I will try to relaunch the newspaper within this year,” he said.

He made these remarks on Tuesday (October 15) after reopening the closed printing press of Amar Desh at Tejgaon.

Mahmudur Rahman emphasized the need for government support in reviving the newspaper. “I received the press from the government in a completely destroyed condition. It is their moral and legal responsibility to assist in restoring it,” he added.

He further remarked, “The current state of the printing press reflects the previous government’s hostility towards the media. Our only hope now is that no tyrant like Hasina ever comes to power again in this country.”

Earlier, Rahman visited the press and exchanged greetings with his staff. The locks of the printing press were broken in the presence of a magistrate to allow access.
