Amid student and public protests, Sheikh Hasina, the ousted Prime Minister of Bangladesh, fled to India after resigning on August 5. Recently, rumors have surfaced that she may not remain in India and has reportedly relocated to the United Arab Emirates. Since Sunday night, new rumors have been spreading that Sheikh Hasina has left India and is now staying in the city of Ajman in the UAE.

However, according to a report from BBC Bangla, quoting sources, Sheikh Hasina is still in India. Indian top government officials have dismissed reports that Sheikh Hasina has left India for the Middle East as “completely baseless.”

A BBC Bangla correspondent from Delhi mentioned that, over the past 48 hours, they have spoken to multiple sources in India’s Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs. All sources confirmed that “Sheikh Hasina is still here this week just as she was last week!” Although India has never officially revealed her exact location in Delhi, it was confirmed that her location hasn’t changed in recent days.

A senior source from Delhi’s South Block also mentioned that, regardless of the situation, Sheikh Hasina is currently India’s honored guest. If she decides to move to a third country later, there would be no reason for India to hide it. The source urged people to disregard reports that Sheikh Hasina secretly moved to the UAE or any other Middle Eastern country.

Meanwhile, on Monday night, Sheikh Hasina’s son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, informed a private television channel that the rumors about his mother leaving India were incorrect. He confirmed that Sheikh Hasina is still in India.
